St Joseph's Kindergarten is located in the picturesque Townsville suburb of North Ward, nestled along the strand and within the heart of the St Joseph’s Catholic School campus.
Not only does our centre represent the commencement of your child’s formal educational journey, but Kindy is also where their connection and sense of belonging to the St Joseph’s community begins. Our link to the school allows for a sense of community, along with opportunities to build positive relationships with their peers, which will serve them well into their future years of primary schooling.
St Joseph's offers a full Kindergarten program run by a qualified teacher during term time. Outside these hours, we offer before, after and vacation care. The ideals of a holistic education are epitomised within our centre by providing each child with the opportunity to engage in a multifaceted educational journey.
The Beginning of Your Child’s Education
We have friendly and dedicated staff who are passionate about early childhood education. Our staff offer a fun interactive environment that caters for the needs of all learners. At the heart of our centre is that of our faith and how we tangibly engage with this daily. We are not only blessed to be at home here on the St Joseph’s Catholic School campus but, by extension, then able to be part of the wide school events, including involvement in liturgical services and celebrations.
At St Joseph's Kindergarten, we value the worth of each individual learner and recognise that each child is on their own journey and that it is our roles as Educators to facilitate this through a broad-based program.

How long have you worked in early childhood education?
15 years as a teacher. I have had the privilege of being a Kindergarten teacher for the past 8 years.
Why were you drawn to become an educator in early childhood?
I was drawn after experiencing the classroom and loving how it was child-directed. I firmly believe that a great kindergarten year sets a strong foundation for children to excel in their future schooling years.
What is your favourite thing about being a service teacher?
Helping shaping children to stay curious and become lifelong learners.
What is the best thing about your kindergarten?
The staff - we have a lovely team of educators who love coming to work and strive to make each and everyday fun and engaging for each child.
What is one thing that you tell all families?
Over the years I have experienced a great sense of excitement starting every day at the centres I have worked at, or led, about what lay ahead for that day. It is hard not to be passionate about early childhood education, when this is the start of each day.
Being able to share in the “first” learning experiences with our early learners is a joy. Unpacking and making sense of the world around us is truly amazing, all while appreciating the perspectives that children bring to the experience.
What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?
Spending time with my husband and three sons, beach camping, cooking and a good book.
