Our outside school hours care is located on the Ryan Catholic College Junior Campus, Kirwan. Licensed for 148 children, we're here to deliver fun, exciting and engaging programs for before, after and vacation care for children. We care for children in prep through to year 6 students for the Ryan Community.

The Ryan OSHC centre offers care where children feel relaxed and at ease. Our service has two lovely coordinators who work on the floor and are passionate about providing child-led care sessions that encourage the unrefined inquisitive and explorative nature of a child's mind.

A Playful, Interactive & Educational Environment

Our building and other indoor areas provide air-conditioned comfort and are popular with children looking for a tranquil setting to read, paint, draw or just 'be'. Our big outdoor play areas provide plenty of open space that creates a sense of freedom and adventure; encouraging children to play sports and games, explore one of our many shade-sail covered
playgrounds or find a quiet space to just chat and relax with friends.

Our lead educators provide age-appropriate programs using My Time, Our Place Framework for all sessions. Our fantastic staff really gets to know your child and what is important to them so they can tailor our programs based on their interests, how they socialise and learn, and how we can best help them grow and develop. We encourage all families to get involved with our centre, even if it is just to enjoy an afternoon of play with the children.

How long have you worked in early childhood and/or education and care?

Megan: 18 years

Catherine: I have worked 15 years at RCC – OSHC.

Why were you drawn to become an educator in early childhood/OSHC?

Megan: I have always wanted to work with children from a young age; I just didn't know in what capacity. I first started in OSHC fresh out of high school before spending a few years in the early childhood sector. I returned after having my own children and I wouldn't have it any other way - I just love it.

Catherine: I was drawn to becoming an early childhood carer because I have always expressed an interest and passion to work with children. I have wanted to work in the early childhood industry from an early age.

What is your favourite thing about being a service leader/teacher (Director/Coordinator)?

Megan: As a coordinator/service leader I get to help children and families in all capacities. I get to be out on the floor as an educator, help families as needed and promote and oversee the running of the service. I also get to mentor educators and help them grow and discover their passion working in the industry.

Catherine: My favourite thing about my position is the relationships I am able to form with the families. I love seeing the happy faces of the children at each session, adore the fact that they enjoy coming and that they end up not wanting to leave at the end of the day!

What is the best thing about your centre/kindergarten/OSHC?

Megan: Our OSHC service has amazing children, families and a team of educators. We run incredible programs. I wouldn't want to work anywhere else; it's my dream service and job.

Catherine: The best thing about our centre is that we are inclusive and very welcoming. Our educators are kind and compassionate people who care about the children who attend each session

What is one thing that you tell all families?

Megan: One thing I tell our families, children and carers is "Our door is always open”. If you have any questions, need assistance, or just have a chat please don't hesitate to contact us.

Catherine: That our service has an open-door policy. We are very happy to collaborate together with ideas and feedback to ensure our families are happy.  This enables the service to operate as a happy and harmonious centre for all to enjoy.

What do you enjoy doing in your spare time?

Megan: Spending time with my family, reading books, crocheting, watching Netflix, cooking, sewing, dancing with my kids and playing video games.

Catherine: In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my two daughters and extended family. Cooking for my family is something I enjoy immensely.
