Our Recruitment and Selection Process

Please read this information carefully, as it will help you to understand the MMCNQ recruitment and selection process and to prepare your application. Selection is based on the assessment of each application in relation to the position requirements.

Positions are generally finalised within 2 - 3 weeks of the vacancy closing date. The suggested timeline below will provide you with an approximate guide to each stage in the recruitment and selection process.

Stage 1 - Advertising of Position

Positions vacant are usually advertised for a period of 14 - 30 days.

Stage 2 - Short Listing Process

A selection panel will oversee the recruitment process for each position vacancy and will typically consist of three panel members. The panel will assess your application against the Position Requirements for the position. Applicants whose skills, experience and qualifications have best met the requirements for the position will be shortlisted for interview. Suitable applicants who have been shortlisted for interview/assessment will be contacted to progress their application.

Applicants who have not been short listed will be notified to advise their application will not be progressing.

Stage 3 - Interview/Assessment

Applicants who attend an interview will be required to further demonstrate how their skills, experience and qualifications best meet the requirements for the position. The selection panel will ask a series of predetermined questions targeting the position requirements contained in the position description. The length of the interview can vary depending on the nature of the position. However, please allow yourself one hour to attend your interview.

Stage 4 - Reference Verification

At the conclusion of the interview/assessment process the selection panel will confirm your referees and seek your permission to contact them accordingly.

Stage 5 - Pre-Employment Compliance Validation

If your application progresses following interview/assessment and reference checking you will receive notification of the relevant compliance checking required for appointment. This may include validation of Blue Card, Qualifications and undertaking a Police Check.

Stage 6 - Offer of Employment

If you are the preferred applicant/s you will formally be offered a position with MMCNQ and receive an Employment Contract. Unsuccessful applicants will be notified in writing at the conclusion of the process.
